Emvólio
Project Summary
EMVÓLIO, a product from tech company Blackfrog, is a portable, battery-powered refrigeration device that can strictly maintain a pre-set temperature for up to 12 hours for last-mile transport of vaccines and other things that require a specific temperature environment. Our tasks here were manifold- design the visual identity including the logo, design a physical input interface for the device and design the packaging the device would ship in.

Concept
After our initial discussions with Blackfrog, coldness/freezing came up as a primary keyword and that informed our subsequent decisions- for colour we picked shades of blue that would accentuate the sense of coolness and also decided to use a snowflake as a motif for the logo. For the product we designed a membrane switch with the focus being on ease of use as well as simplicity, visual clarity and accessibility. We took that same design philosophy over to the user manual, where coherence and clarity of instructions were of utmost importance.
For the packaging we went for economy and sustainability, designing efficient cardboard packaging that holds the product along with the manual and all accessories. We did not want to be too adventurous with the aesthetics here given the product and the target audience, which was primarily hospitals and healthcare facilities, but it still had to be good looking and in keeping with the design direction. We gave the product itself a prominent spot and elsewhere employed some blue accents along with some clean visual elements while leaving space for necessary information.
